4 Reasons I Hate Wrestling V.10

(FOUR) REWRITTEN HISTORY
It’s funny that certain top card guys are often considered “icons” after a while. It all depends on how they positioned themselves with whatever promoter is pushing history at the moment. On the flipside of that, someone can be great and not get nearly enough attention. In the WWE we really don’t see much love for Macho Man, Warrior, WCW, or anyone not directly getting a legend’s contract or, in general, someone they can profit off of. They say “winners write history”, but it’s a little too one-sided at times.

(THREE) UNREALISTIC ALLIES
You spend years of your career hating someone. You feud with them. You make them bleed. They make you bleed. There are many promos. There are many matches between you. It’s been a war to say the least. And now, out of nowhere, you’re buddies. Maybe one of the two enemies had a heel or face turn, so THAT makes it okay? It’s stupid. Just because you’re bad and someone else is bad doesn’t mean you’re friends. It’s unrealistic.

(TWO) BOOKERS BOOKING THEMSELVES
When someone runs the show and wrestles it always leads to bullshit problems. It’s not just the idea of a wrestler over-pushing themselves either. It’s easy to think of someone abusing their power and trying to make themselves a champion more times than Ric Flair. There is more bullshit attached. There is also the “minor ego”, where the booker will give himself a mid-card title and act all humble and lame about it. THEN there are the booker-workers who will sacrifice their potential for “the better of the show”. They’ll job out, do silly angles, and put EVERYONE over but never take any spotlight for themselves.

(ONE) THE VOCAL REPRESENATIVES
The people who represent wrestling to the general public are often crappy. When someone bad happens you’ll get bitter old wrestlers on talk shows and news shows saying how horrible wrestling is. You’ll also have over the top jokes like Hulk Hogan out there thinking that he is the sole representative of professional wrestling. He’s an icon, sure, but there is so many more layers to the art. The guys who do shoot tapes are angry old guys who need the extra cash. A lot of the big time stars who are back in the indies for bit spots often overcharge promoters for their fees, overcharge fans for shitty signed autographed pictures, and are so artificial and broken that it’s like you’re looking at an imposter or a cut out. These seem like the folks who are the most vocal out there. Meanwhile, others are keeping quiet and creating progress and evolving the sport. But sadly, meanwhile again, non-wrestling fans think EVERYONE who appreciates it is like that.
