Press Release: Unpaid Programming Released! 04/22/13

April 22nd 2013 – Sometimes you just don’t have the energy to turn off a commercial. This is exactly what Mike Goodpaster is hoping for with “Unpaid Programming”, his first comedy web special. This all new 33 minute free web presentation features a series of short commercials where Mike parodies products, the news, television shows, movies, and celebrities. Mike Goodpaster’s “Unpaid Programming” premieres on http://digitallizardproductions.com on April 22nd.

No hot topic goes untouched as Mike puts his twist on obscure news stories, black market home shopping, horrible products, Deutschland rap music, celebrity cyber bullying, and more. In one segment titled the “Republican Bargaining” Mike plays ‘McClain Goodman’, a failed politician who attempts to rationalize trading ideals like gay marriage, marijuana laws, and free health care for antiquated laws and horrible habits like discrimination, spousal abuse, and unrestricted oil drilling.

“This is the direct result of our brains being oversaturated with jingles, smiley spokespersons, and commercial catch phrases.” says actor/writer/director Mike Goodpaster, “If you want to enjoy even just a few moments of entertainment you are forced to devour commercial after commercial.” In “Mike Goodpaster’s Unpaid Programming”, the commercials are the entertainment.

Mike Goodpaster has had a focus on creative endeavors for a while. In 2001 he ran his own independent professional wrestling company, Maniak Enterprise Wrestling. As producer he wrote storylines, developed characters, and handled the day to day tasks of running a small business. In 2005 Mike’s creative focus would shift towards writing. Churning out screenplay after screenplay, Mike saw his words begin to stack up. Instead of burying these scripts in a drawer he started a production company in 2007. With a shoe string budget, friends, and local Chicago area actors he wrote, directed, and produced three full length movies and one documentary. Along with filmmaking he would write, direct, and/or produce multiple web shows and live event productions.

After years of producing content featuring others, Mike Goodpaster is finally stepping in front of the camera to unleash a plethora of characters, personalities, and sketches in “Mike Goodpaster’s Unpaid Programming”.
