Digital Lizard Productions releases more than 340 videos to YouTube after cutting ties with longtime digital distributors.
July 17th, 2014 – Lake Station, IN – For more than five years Digital Lizard Productions has exclusively hosted all videos on blip.tv, a small niche video hosting website. During this time the web series, films and specials accumulated over 500,000 views bringing over 300 hours of entertainment to fans, supporters and curious viewers.
In late May blip.tv sent Digital Lizard Productions executive producer and creator Mike Goodpaster an email informing him that they will no longer host the videos and the account will be removed at the end of summer. No explanation was given.
Blip makes money by splitting advertising revenue with the uploaders who host video content on their website. It would be safe to assess Blip has made a fair amount of money from the five plus years of content Digital Lizard Productions has shared. The independent production company is left with no thank you for years of original content, no answers to why the sudden decision was made and no choice but to find a new home for more than 340 of their videos.
"This is a blessing in disguise. Blip.tv hosted our videos for years but their audience was limited" explained Goodpaster. He continued, "I'm thrilled to announce that the entire Digital Lizard archive and all future projects will be available on the biggest and most used video site in the world YouTube.com."
