Jennifer Lopez

Of course, we know her back story and where she’s out of. Yes, folks… she’s always going to be “Jenny from the Block”. I don’t know how, but apparently that translates to her being from the Bronx. She got her start being a dancer in rap videos, but her first main break would be as a “Fly Girl” in the FOX sketch comedy show “In Living Color”. She moved on quickly and would become a back up dancer for Janet Jackson, which I would assume would still be a dream for any young dancer out there. Besides the dancing, she wasn’t done yet.

She got into TV as actress in the Fox series “South Central”. She did some more TV work before landing a role opposite Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson in “Money Train”. She just got hot out of nowhere, and I don’t mean physically that was always going on. She then went on to having a role in the Robin Williams starring comedy “Jack”, and then shared the screen with Jack Nicholson in “Blood and Wine”. All of these supporting roles lead up to her first leading role as “Selena” in the biopic named “Selena”. It displayed Jennifer’s acting skills and even got her a Golden Globe nomination. After this it was like she was everywhere. She starred in “Anaconda”, “U Turn”, “Out of Sight”, “Antz”, “The Cell”, “The Wedding Planner”, “Maid in Manhattan”, and then more and more romcoms and silly ones like “Monster-In-Law”. But who would we be kidding if we didn’t mention the masterpiece that was “Gigli”.

On the music side of her career, her debut album “On the 6” did well and made the top 10 on Billboard. Then “J.Lo” in 2001, “Rebirth” in 05, “Brave” in 07, and “Love?” in 2010. And that’s not even close to being all the music she’s released over various projects. Pretty much all these albums have had hit singles and sold A LOT of albums. She’s successful in pretty much every avenue she pursues. So now she’s slated to take over on “American Idol” as a judge? It kind of makes PERFECT sense. She’s a huge music and movie star and has a more than valid opinion on pop music. And the fact that it’s on FOX, former homes of her first TV acting gig on “South Central” and home of where she was a “Fly Girl” just makes sense. I’m sure they’ll reference and show the hell out of old clips from back then to prove to the viewers that “YOU can make your dreams come true… and being on FOX won’t hurt either.”
