Melissa Joan Hart has been in our homes since the early 90’s. If you’re in your 20’s or even early 30’s, you’ve grown up with this woman. In the early 90’s she starred in the too awesome for its own good kid’s show called “Clarissa Explains It All”. In many ways, her role as “Clarissa” on Nickelodeon paved the way for the tween divas that Nick and Disney keep breeding. Without “Clarissa Explains It All” would there have been a “Lizzy”, “Hannah”, or “Carly”? Most likely, but it’d be silly to not credit her for pioneering this world.
That ended in 94. In 95, she would take on the role of “Sabrina” in “Sabrina The Teenage Witch”. This show would last seven seasons and ended in 2003. It’s not hard to imagine the show lasting that long, but 2003? To me it feels like it ended before that, but it just shows how consistent she is when it comes to being on our screens. From there she’s done some movies, made other television appearances, and has kept active in the business. Her next sitcom venture is a show called “Melissa & Joey” with Joey Lawrence on ABC Family. In a shocking twist of events, she is playing the role of “Melissa”.
To be fair, it seems she got into the business due to nepotism. Her mom is a producer and talent manager ad her step dad is a television executive. I don’t know how much that had to do with her getting her foot in the door, but I’m sure it couldn’t hurt. The fact of the matter is, if she wasn’t charming and well liked then she’d not of had this long of a career. Tori Spelling has a huge “in” because of her dad and she’s just unpleasant and her roles show that. That’s not really the case with Melissa Joan Hart. She seems down to earth, cares for her family, and someone who doesn’t fit into the Hollywood world. And that’s a good thing.
