Amada Peet started off with stage acting. She studied at Friends Seminary and then graduated from Columbia. Her first roles on screen were small parts. She was in a Skittles commercial, appeared on “Law and Order”, and a few other small spots. Her first film role was “Animal Room” in 1995 and she’d go on to be more independent movies for awhile.
In 2000, she landed the role in “The Whole Nine Yards” with Bruce Willis. It was her first wide release role and pretty much instantly pushed her into the spotlight. People magazine named her one of the 50 Most Beautiful People that year. From there she stared in “Saving Silverman” with Jason Biggs and Jack Black. After this she was pretty much set. She had roles in “Changing Lanes”, “Something’s Gotta Give”, “Syriana”, “A Lot Like Love”, and of course “The Whole Ten Yards”. In 2006, she was in the VERY UNDERRATED show “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”. The show was great and should have been given a chance to breathe longer. Peet’s Jordan McDeere character was a big reason as to why the show was great. I’ll never fully forgive NBC for cancelling it. I can’t get too distraught over that as Amanda would still pop up in some awesome roles. The 2007 comedy with Zack Braff and Jason Bateman called “The Ex” should have gotten more love. The movie was hilarious as it was charming. Then she was in the X-Files sequel and recently in the disaster movie “2012” with John Cusack. She’s not going anywhere, that’s for sure.
Amanda Peet has this amazing charm about her. Yes, she’s very beautiful but her comedic timing and daunting eyes are what win me over. Finding a hot chick who has good taste in movies and a sense of humor like hers makes for an awesome specimen. I’ve been a fan of her career thus far, but I still feel like her career defining role is ahead of us. I can’t wait to see this career continue to evolve.
