This young actress has quickly jumped into some big movie projects, or so it would seem. Mara is a New York girl and her dad is “vice president of player evaluation” for the NY Giants. To me that sounds like a fancy way of saying “scout”, but none the less it had to be cool growing up with your dad being involved with the NFL. At least I could see it be for a guy. As a child she was inspirted by the classic black and whites like “Gone with the Wind”. She’d soon start doing stage acting in school and her love for it carried over. In 2005 she made her debut in a straight to video horror movie, then did some more smaller parts like in “The Cleaner” and “Law and Order SVU. Slowly and surely she worked her way up, built up a reel, and befoe you know it she was in bigger and bigger roles. Her first lead was with Amy Sedaris and Tom Everett Scott in “Tanner Hall”. I first saw her in her small, but funny role in “Youth in Revolt”. In 09 she had two movies at Sundance in “Dare” and “The Winning Season”. But it would be the 2010 “A Nightmare on Elm Street” that got her in a big starring role. In the movie she plays the iconic horror role of “Nancy” and from most reviews did a good job at it. Good enough to continue the franchise in the already announced sequel. But that’s not the only big upcoming role she has. She’s set to appear in the upcoming David Fincher flick about facebook called “The Social Network” and just landed the lead in the soon to be massive hit “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. A lot of big names were out for that role, but it went to Rooney Mara. Why? Because she’s awesome. She’s definitely going to be a name a lot more people will know come the end of next year.
