Perry was born into a religious family. Both of her parents were pastors so at a young age she’d sing in their church. She was into gospel music because she wasn’t allowed to listen to “secular music”. After her freshman year, she dropped out, and got her GED so she could pursue her music career dreams. She took voice lessons from age 9 to 16 and studied Italian opera at the Music Academy of the West. When she was 15 she released her first Christian album under her real name of Kate Hudson. Not to be confused with the actress, her name would be changed for her next release, a song on the soundtrack for 2005’s “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”. She would record, get dropped from labels, record, get the work shelved, record, get dropped from the label for her first few years as a “secular” pop star. While waiting for Capitol Records to come in and swoop her up into their label, she appeared in a few music videos. Most notable, would be “Cupid’s Chokehold” by Gym Class Heros, the band of her long time boyfriend Travis McCoy. In 2008, she released “One of the Boys” and things went bonkers for her. She became a huge star and her songs and singles have dominated radio and a good chunk of recent pop culture. “Ur So Gay”, “I Kissed a Girl”, “Hot n Cold”, and all the singles have made her a huge star. But her charisma has a lot to do with it. She’s just an outgoing, eccentric, and in your face type of personality. She’s likeable, she’s very attractive and flaunts her stuff whenever a chance is there, and her music is as accessible as modern pop music can be. Her stock is going to continue to rise and my eyes have no complaints.
