It’s hard to believe that Evan Rachel Wood will be turning just 23 next month. She was born in North Carolina and her dad, Ira David Wood III is a local actor, singer, theater director, and playwright. Her mom is actress, director, and acting coach. One of her brothers is an actor and her aunt is a Hollywood production designer. So off the bat she was kind bred for acting. It’s the family business. In the mid 90’s she appeared in a lot of made for TV movies and had an occasional role on the show “American Gothic”. In 96 her parents split and she and mom moved to LA. By 98 she had her first major role in the low budget “Digging to China”. The experience secured her goals and aspirations as an actress. She had a few more smaller and supporting roles, but it would be the 2003 movie “Thirteen” that’d get the attention and praise she deserved. She’d go on to do a few more smaller movies, but then gained some “cred” by doing more independent films like the dark comedy “Pretty Persuasion” in 05 and then “Down in the Valley” with Ed Norton. At this point everyone knew she was “on the verge”. She even appeared in a few music videos including “At the Bottom of Everything” by Bright Eyes and “Wake Me Up When September Ends” by Green Day. In 06 she appeared in “Running with Scissors” and again got indie cred and love for it. Then “King of Califonia”, “Across the Universe”, “The Wrestler”, and then “Whatever Works”. Now she’s a regular on the huge hit show “True Blood”. Her career is very impressive and awesome. She’s gotten to work with Michael Douglas, Larry David, Woody Allen, Mickey Rourke, Alan Ball, and so many other awesome people. I wish my parents were involved in the business…
