Trish Stratus is one of the most famous and respected female pro wrestlers of all time. In the day and age where pretty faces and well endowment are wanted more in a “diva” than real athletic and charismatic skill, Trish was an exception to the rules. Not only is Trish Stratus a well endowed pretty face, but the woman can wrestle and the crowd loves her probably just as much as anyone currently on the WWE roster.
She got her start in 1999, when WWE signed her up after seeing her modeling work. At this point she was a fairly successful fitness model, but come early 2000 she’d be on television in the corner of Test and Albert as “T&A”. Over the years it was a pleasure to watch her persona and ring skill evolve into the A-Plus level they were on. While cats like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, “The Rock”, Triple H, Undertaker, and the like were tearing it up on the most recent “golden era” of wrestling, she held it down on the female side. Her work with Molly Holly, Lita, Victoria, Jazz, Gail Kim, and others is leaps and bounds better than anything you’ll see on TV now. Hell, these matches are probably better than a good portion of today’s mens matches.
In September of 2006, after winning her record setting seventh WWE Women’s Championship, she retired. She pops back up here and there, but is now doing her own thing. She got married to her long time boyfriend shortly after retiring, but had still kept busy. She’s involved with a lot of charity work, has had her own television show “Stratusphere”, has her own yoga studio “Stratusphere”, a “Statusphere yoga” game for Wii, and is getting involved with doing some independent movies. It’s awesome to see someone have a lot of success in wrestling, get out young, move on, and still show support and show up on WWE on occasion. (Yeah, that’s a jab at The Rock)
