Milla Jovovich was born in the Soviet Union. In 1981 her parents moved to London because of the political madness that was going on at the time. Before she knew it, she was living in Los Angeles. School and fitting in was rough for her but she relied on modeling as her form of expression. She would become one of the top supermodels in the world, which would open the doors for her acting career wide open.
She starred in a few obscure movies, did some television work, and had a part in “Chaplin”. Oddly enough the 1993 “Dazed and Confused” would be were many would first see her act, but it’s a project that caused her to take a hiatus from acting. Her role was cut down a lot. Cut down to one word (“No”) and one line from her song… despite her being used in the promo for the movie. She’d come back in 97 for “The Fifth Element”. This brought her right back into the eyes of the world. The movie was a huge success and spawned many more roles for Milla. In 2002 she would become “Alice” as the first “Resident Evil” movie would be released. Tack on a trillion more roles, but she’s always going to be “Alice” to most people out there. Not so much a typecast, but rather she just owns those movies so well.
It’s hard not to pay attention to Milla Jovovich when she’s on screen. She has this magnetism to her that’s hard to describe. She’s obviously beautiful, but she has a strong personality and enthralling presence that makes her awesome. There are not many movies I’d not watch her in. She’s stuck with more “out there” roles, which have been fun, but I could see her killing it with some serious drama stuff. In time, I’m sure we’ll see that…
