What is there not to like about Kristen Bell? If you’re a movie nerd, tv nerd, or even just a nerd in general then you’re well aware of Kristen Bell’s awesomeness. The roles she’s had are the epitome of a cool. From a burb of Detroit, she went by “Anne”, her middle name for most of her life after deciding young she didn’t like her name. In high school got went back to her normal name and took interest in drama and music. She did the theatre stuff in school and then moved on to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She dropped out early to take a role in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer on Broadway. This same year she made her movie debut in “Pootie Tang” in the opening credits of the movie. She’d bounce back and forth between screen and stage for awhile doing The Crucible with Liam Neeson on stage and acting in failed sitcom pilots. In 2004 she got in a life time movie and got some attention. She got a role in “Spartan” and had a two episode storyline in “Deadwood”. Then “Veronica Mars” happened and she was launched into spotlight. She started getting mad love from her show and took some smaller and odd ball roles like in the underrated indie flick “Fifty Pills”, the horror movie “Pulse”, and a short indie film “The Receipt”. “Veronica Mars” would last until 2007’s cancellation. People still want more and there’s been a little talk about a movie. It’s become a pretty big cult classic in recent years. She ended up on “Heroes”, which was a cool run for her while she did the voice work on “Gossip Girl”. Then she starred as the title character in Judd Apatow’s massively underappreciated “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. Then she had a role in the super nerd “Fanboys” movie, “Couples Retreat”, and more and more. She’s even lent her voice to the video game “Assassin’s Creed” and “Assassin’s Creed II”. And now she’s going to be in “Scream 4”? That’s just another cred to her coolness. We’re talking theatre nerd, cult favorite television shows, pretty cool movies, AND video games… She’s awesome.
