The above words are good advice no matter your quest… however, this week is a rant that has me as mad & angry as Scar in The Lion King.
Through all my great supporters & positive experiences in my training there is one aspect, since day one, that is probably the most hard for me to get around. It is greater than my lack of self confidence or even my tiny stature.
It is the ignorance of every man that I wrestle with that finds it necessary to show impropriety; their need to whisper sexist or perverted things to me, or even gaze upon me in less of an athletic way and more of a chauvinistic & sexist way – they take drills as a way to grope me then as practice to become greater.
Get this straight – I am an athlete. I was so even before I ever took step into the ring - a multiple trophy winning athlete at that, as well as an award nominated actress and singer. Though, admittedly I have yet to “prove” myself in the ring, I will BOAST that I have more talent to every fiber of my being then every man there, as well as determination, dedication, and most abundantly intelligence.
Take heed, I am not an oppressed house wife of times past, or a harlot in need of a living. Nor am I a simpleton or oaf. I am empowered, independent, graceful, and eloquent. I am strong in body, mind, spirit and will. I am educated and faithful, and most of all I care.
BE PREPARED, whence I am ready to take the helm and fly in this business, I will SOAR. And for every moment you harassed me you have sealed your destiny deeper in failure.
You fail because you can not see a competitor, and in that the competition is already lost.
It is not long now – BE PREPARED.
