(FOUR) NOVEMBER SPAWNED A MONSTER
Yeah. Some love for Morrissey. I’ve not gotten fully into his solo work, preferring The Smiths so far. Still, I know this one. It’s a fun song. Ironic lyrics and some bad ass music. I’m especially fond of the break down about half way into it. Recommend.
(THREE) NOVEMBER HAS COME
This Gorillaz track is slept on. It’s probably my second favorite tune off “Demon Days”. It’s on the DL as it’s not a major single and not used in commercials. It’s still bad ass. It’s a chanty song. It’s got some pretty awesome groove to it. It’s like a slinky going down really expensive marble stairs. Yeah… what I just said.
(TWO) GONE ‘TILL NOVEMBER
Wyclef is underappreciated. His work on The Carnival and specifically this song is pretty damn amazing. If you’re under a rock look up “Gone Till November” by Wyclef Jean. It’s a great tune. It’s crazy to think this song is 15 years old now. I remember hearing it and having my mind blown when it first came out. It’s simplistic but catchy and addicting as a song can be. It’s not quite the best November song though…
(ONE) NOVEMBER RAIN
The best. This song is going on twenty years old and still no other “November” song has come close to it’s awesomeness. Most fold credit “Welcome to the Jungle” or “Paradise City” as Gun N’ Roses most renowned and definitive song. Hell, maybe even “Don’t Cry”, “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, or “Patience”. There is plenty to choose from when looking at the GNR back catalogue. For me, my money is on “November Rain” as one of the most epic songs of all time. The story telling, the beautiful composition, the guitar solo, Axl’s A-Game, and pretty much everything came together here.
