"Top 4 Dana Carvey Movies"

(FOUR) MOVING
There is no doubt about this one. This is a Richard Pryor movie. The movie is about Richard Pryor moving his family to a new home in a new place because of his job. The movie features Morris Day and King Kong Bundy in smaller roles. We also get the film debut of Stacey Dash. It’s a funny movie and really underrated in terms of classic comedies. I loved it as a kid and I’m sure it still holds up. Carvey had a small supporting role in this movie. He played a guy hired to drive Pryor’s car to their new home. It turns out he’s a sociopath with multiple personality disorder. He got to use some of his character skills here and really show off a little at what he could do. It was just the beginning though…

(THREE) OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS
I remember loving this movie. We didn’t have the official VHS of it, but I’m pretty sure we taped it off HBO or Showtime or something. In this one he plays a con man who takes on the life of his rich friend. I don’t remember much else from the movie other than I really liked it as a kid. Sometimes that’s enough.

(TWO) CLEAN SLATE
This is more of the same, but a little better. In Clean Slate he gets to do his voices and characters by the plot device of amnesia. He’s a private investigator who has amnesia. This results in him getting to try different personas and also wear disguises. It’s a pretty forgettable movie for the most part. It’s not without it’s charm though. I’m surprised it’s not on basic cable all the time.

(ONE) WAYNE’S WORLD
Was there ANY doubt? Garth Algar is the pinnacle character of Dana Carvey’s movie career. Had they made a Church Lady movie, he may have had a run for his money but Wayne Campbell’s trusty best friend will always be my favorite Carvey character. He’s loveable, funny, and someone you can’t help but want to see come out ahead. If Dana Carvey made Garth movies on his own it would be awesome. More Wayne’s World, please!
