"4 Things I Miss V.9"

(FOUR) BASKETBALL CARDS
I know they’re still out there, but who cares about them now? In the 90’s the art of the hobby was in full effect. You could go to any gas station, convenient store, comic shop, card shop, department store, and pretty much ANYWHERE transactions took place and find yourself a pack of cards. My favorites were Fleer Ultra, but at like $4 a pack I found myself with a lot of Topps and Hoops. Then there was Upper Deck, Sky box, and Classic. The “plastics”, the packs, the boxes, the Beckett, the shops, and the whole thing was magic for awhile. I can honestly say I’m kind of proud to have grown up in an era where cards were popular. It’s a great pastime to get in on.

(THREE) THE BUDWEISER FROGS
Everyone loves commercials, especially commercials that feature babies talking about insurance or something. Whatever. I like my fictitious talking to be done by alcoholic reptiles. I don’t even like beer, but the “Bud… Weis… er” is classic. They should bring them back. Just don’t use ZZ Top or AC/DC in the commercial. I make the request because I’m almost positive it’d happen that way.

(TWO) SUPERSOAKERS
They probably make big squirt guns still, but they don’t make them like they used to. For years we were stuck with water pistols and then finally out of nowhere squirt guns got technical with the pump and spray action. Then they got even crazier. I remember one Supersoaker that had a back pack to it. There are diseases, life needs, and serious problems that need to be tended to and they had the world’s smartest rocket scientists in labs working on these things. In retrospect, it was good ol 90’s overkill. I miss that.

(ONE) CHEATER BOX
Remember when we still got our “premium” entertainment via cable? Now in a day of Netflix, youtube, the internet, satellite, and all of that fun stuff, we can pretty much see whatever we want when we want. In the day we had our basic TV networks and then if we are someone we know were lucky enough to have cable then we’d have like extra twenty or thirty channels. Half of those showing reruns and the other half showing dirty movies. There wasn’t any on demand pay per view, we had to call in and order something to see it. Any wrestling or boxing fan from then could tell you. It was all about the cheater box. Completely illegal, but it was what it was. It was just so amazing at time to be able to watch something for free that would normally be $29.99. I don’t care who you were. If you have one and it was a Sunday at the end of the month, I was your best friend.
