(FOUR) AWESOME MYTHOS
I have a lot of trouble getting into science fiction stuff outside of the Terminator series. I’ll be open minded, but I’m always iffy. I’ve never watched any Star Wars movies and I’ve only seen the new Star Trek. It’s just not my thing. I never watched X-Files before recently either. Not saying I have super high standards, because believe me I don’t, but the show like this would almost have to have a great story to be interesting. They accomplish that here. They cover so many cool stories, they tie everything together, and it’s not insulting to the viewer. Sure certain things are impossible, but it’s done in a clever way to make it believable to those who dispend belief.

(THREE) COOL OPENING THEME
Sometimes a show gets bonus points because it has a cool opening theme. When a show is enjoyable, the theme becomes part of the fun. For this atmospheric techno sounding song, the shows creator JJ Abrams wrote it himself.

(TWO) ALTERNATE REALITY
This recent season jumped into this way more the first two, but there was always the “alternate universe” stuff. We had small glimpses before. Like the Zeppelins being used, the double decker cars, Eric Stoltz in Back to the Future, and tons of little things. Now they got really into it with the current season and I’m not enjoying it as much. The small glimpses we had were way cooler than the pretty-much-the-same “alternate” world they ended up giving up. The only differences of note were pretty much used as plot devices. There are still some questions I have, but I dunno if they’ll ever be answered. At what point did the two universes begin? Were they one at start and then copied and left to evolve on its own? Have the two universes always been around since the “big bang”/”creation”? Did Michael J. Fox star in the Mask instead of Stoltz?

(ONE) WALTER
John Noble is the heart of this show. Anna Torv is the lead in name. She’s normally the main focus of the show. Joshua Jackson is probably the second most pushed face on the show. They are great in the series and their characters gain depth and interest with each episode. For my money, John Noble’s “Walter” character is what keeps this show from being too nerdy for its own good. I honestly think the innocence and ongoing brilliance of the character is what keeps the casual sci-fi fans on board. The diehards will stay on board because the story and mythos, but those who want more get “Walter”. He is someone you’d want to hang out with… and he parties!
