"Top 4 Christian Slater Movies"

(FOUR) YOUNG GUNS II
I’m not a fan of westerns or cowboy movies. It’s just not my cup of tea. If I had to pick my favorite though it’s Young Guns II for sure. Slater doesn’t have a big part in this movie, but the little time he’s on is good stuff. I really liked his chemistry with the Sutherland, Diamond Phillips, and others.

(THREE) PUMP UP THE VOLUME
Christian Slater would make a great radio DJ. This movie proves that. It was 1990 and the internet and podcasts was a thing of the future. Slater plays a teenager who pirates radio. He plays cool rock and punk, talks about sex, and does a weird shock jock thing. It’s dated as hell, but the movie was good.

(TWO) VERY BAD THINGS
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The cast is awesome, the story is cruel and hilarious, and it’s still rewatchable as hell well over ten years later. We have a group of friends who go to Vegas for a bachelor party. Shit goes down and they find themselves in a screwed up situation. Slowly and sure the characters snap, but none quite like Christian Slater. His fight in this movie with Jeanne Tripplehorn is awesome enough. Any movie with montages at the end is okay with me. Well, not really. But this movie is great.

(ONE) HEATHERS
I remember it was a common discussion that Slater’s unique personality and line delivery made him a “young Nicolson”. You can really see and hear that in this movie. I’m a huge fan of Dark Comedies and this movie is one of the best. The teenage rebellion anarchist role he played was fun stuff. He was like all the other misunderstood outcasts from the 80’s teen movies, but he was different. He had an agenda. The movie slowly builds and gets crazier and crazier. By the end, you realize that Christian Slater is the craziest person alive and you embrace it. You’re on Winona’s side. You don’t want anyone to get hurt, but at the same time you have to cheer him on for his ambition. Heathers II should happen. Make Ryder a teacher…. Yeah!
