(FOUR) THE PRINCESS DIARIES
I could have gone with a few choices here, but I’m going with the one that put her out there the most. I’m more of an Ice Princess man myself, but The Princess Diaries did the trick for Anne Hathaway. Almost instantly she was getting tons of love and was compared to Julia Roberts at every turn. The sequel would do okay as well.
(THREE) GET SMART
I actually like this movie though. It’s hard to call it an “Anne Hathaway movie” though. While she’s on the poster and featured in the promo for the movie, it’s undeniably a Steve Carell vehicle. As Agent 99 she plays the straight man to Carell’s Maxwell Smart. It turned out way better than I could have imagined.
(TWO) THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
They say to get great you have to work with greatness. If that’s true then Anne Hathway did just that by working with the living iconic legendary thespian Meryl Streep. This is a comedic drama and let’s be real here. It’s a “chick flick”. There’s no way around that, but I can be man enough to admit that this movie ended up being pretty decent. Meryl Streep plays an awesome evil boss and Hathaway is the main lead here. She does a great job and holds her own with the living iconic legendary thespian Meryl Streep.
(ONE) RACHEL GETTING MARRIED
Hands down, her best work. Rachel Getting Married is one of the most interesting movies I’ve seen in a few years. The direction, the story, and the indie grit of it made for great art. Still, it’s Hathaway’s performance as Kym that is amazing. Everyone knows THAT chick, but no one would imagine Hathaway being her at all. She’s overbearing, loud, and obnoxious… yet, you don’t get a choice whether you like her or not. Of course you do. How can you NOT like Anne Hathaway?
