"4 New Shows That’ll Suck 2011"
09/21/11
BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER

(FOUR) THE PLAYBOY CLUB
It’s show about the booze drinking, chain smoking, and chauvinistic days of old. The problem is that it’s on a network channel. They can’t show smoking, they can’t go that extra distance as a Mad Men or a Boardwalk Empire. If this show was on Showtime and had a stronger lead I’d be excited about it. It’s on NBC and I don’t know the name of the bland boring dude starring in it. I know statements like that are the ones that end up coming back to haunt people. I hope so.

(THREE) TERRA NOVA
This show will not suck. It looks unique, well done, well crafted, and a solid show. The problem is that you can’t trust Fox. Fox has this crazy disease where once it gets a good cult-status sci-fy show it pulls the plug on it because the ratings settle and they don’t know how to market it anymore. Example? Firefly. Need another? Sarah Connor Chronicles. Another? Terra Nova in like two seasons. I hate when a show ends abruptly and I don’t get closure on something that’s good. It ruins a show. That’s why I’m just going to say this show sucks now and get it over with.

(TWO) CHARLIE’S ANGELS
This show is dead on arrival. I would shocked if this show made it past winter. I am not a hater on the angels at all. The movie franchise was cute and charming and I enjoyed them. I like Minka Kelly, but this show just looks really bad. I would bet they have at least three montages in the first episode alone. The only thing that can save this show is if people watch it in an ironic “look how bad this is, let’s make a drinking game out of it” kind of way. It works for Glee, right?

(ONE) LAST MAN STANDING
Home Improvement wasn’t a horrible show. Tim Allen was HUGE at this time. He had a huge show, he was having successful stand up spots, he was in movies, and he was at an all time high. Then he fizzled and faded away. He popped up in a few random things, but he still wasn’t at that peak. Now he’s back doing another sitcom… a lame sitcom. He has a wife, a daughter, and a whole bunch of women around him. Aw shucks! He could have taken a risk and I don’t think it’s going to work out.
