(FOUR) RETURN TO SENDER
Spoilers? Yes. Stop reading now! Any way… The show got off to a weird start, but it was still entertaining. I think it was really THIS episode that put the show on the “must see pile” for me. We saw what Dexter was all about before this, but the story here was really the first point where I got on the edge of my seat. Someone knew what Dexter was up to… oh no! Good stuff.

(THREE) TAKE IT!
A season five episode. I was a little put off by the season. The addition of Lumen was a little annoying despite being well done. I wanted the show to go a different direction, but it went in a very similar route as other seasons. The bad guys were cool though. Jonny Lee Miller was awesome as Jordan Chase. This episode had the huge scene towards the end where he says “tick tock tick tock” that might have been the best scene of the season. It was such a “oh no you didn’t!” moment that one has to verbally react to it despite it being a TV show.

(TWO) THE BRITISH INVASION
Doakes goes boom. This was season finale for season two. By this point I think the show was at its very peak. I’ve enjoyed the show from start till now, but the second half of two was just really good. Lila, the crazy English broad goes nuts and Dexter is forced to deal with it and man up. It’s a perfect episode to set the bar on how far the show can and will go.

(ONE) THE GETAWAY
John Lithgow is the man. As Arthur “The Trinity Killer” he came in and put on one of the best guest performances I’ve seen in just about any show. He could have been a one dimensional bad guy with predictable traits. Instead he played the character is such way that it has to be one of the best villains in television history. This was his farewell. He wasn’t just killed off, but he left the biggest mark on the show in its entire run. We find out before Dexter kills him that he stopped at the Morgan home and brutally murdered Rita, Dexter’s wife. It was such a shock. I remember seeing the last seconds of the show the first time, the second time, AND third time. Each and every one of those times I found myself jaw dropped in awe, shock, horror, and excitement. Great episode. Great television.
