(FOUR) MORTIS
This fourth spot was rough. There have been a lot of “spooky” characters, but not a whole lot really stand out to me as I type this. Of course I’m not going to research this. I could have went with Gangrel or Boogeyman, but I dug Mortis. Kanyon was an awesome wrestler that was way before his time in the ring and the lifestyle that’s “acceptable” in wrestling. The character reminded me of Skelator from Masters of the Universe. It was a creepy character. Silly? Yeah, but still unsettling…
(THREE) UNDERTAKER
What?! No! Undertaker should be number one, right? This is my list. Make your own. Undertaker is the most famous spooky character and is one of the greatest of all time. I love the character, but it’s not really that spooky to me anything. I feel like if I were on his bad side he’d just send a lightning bolt at me or something. The two people ahead of him are the torturous types….
(TWO) MANKIND
Early WWF Mankind was crazy. Those “in the know”, knew him as Cactus Jack… the dude killing himself and others in Japanese Death Matches. Then this new gimmick was like a cross between Hannibal Lector and the rat king. He hung out in boiler rooms, pulled his hair out, squealed, and all that crazy stuff. At one point, it was conceivable that Mankind wasn’t too far from ripping someone’s face off and wearing it. Still, not the spookiest…
(ONE) KANE
I don’t even like watching Kane wrestle. I can’t think of any one on one match involving Kane that I got really excited about. I do like his character work from a few years back though. He hooked Shane McMahon’s balls to a car battery, he pretty much kidnapped and molested Lita, he set Jim Ross on fire, he keeps screwing with the Undertaker, and he’s easily my favorite “spooky” character. When his character is at its best, he’s insane. They made a pretty decent horror movie starring him. They didn’t have to really do much make up work or character development. He is a monster. Like SAW-torture-gore-crazy insane.
