"Top 4 WWE Feuds: PG Era"

(FOUR) EDGE vs. JOHN CENA
When John Cena shows up on my screen my brain shuts off. I dislike his character and ring work so much that I have to. It’s not like a “boo! I don’t like him!” type of heel situation. It’s a “this makes me want to turn the channel and not enjoy the rest of the show” type of thing. The only real time I cared about John Cena was in his feud with Edge. Edge is THAT awesome. The dude is one of the Top 5 heels of modern era wrestling. Yeah, I said it! They traded the belt back and forth a lot. This feud really padded the career stats of both guys in that sense. It was kept interesting. Some folks got tired of it and I could see that, but for a Cena feud Edge carried him like a legend.

(THREE) ORTON vs. TRIPLE H
From the Evolution turn till the recent McMahon skull kicking tour, this feud has always been pretty underrated. I’d even go as far as saying its Triple H’s best “Post Attitude” feud. Like the Edge/Cena one, a lot of people got all whiney about them fighting so much. It was good shit though. I saw them have the Last Man Standing Match at No Mercy live. I’d rate it as one of the top three matches I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live. I think that makes me a little bias towards this one.

(TWO) UNDERTAKER vs. SHAWN MICHAELS
This story went on for over two Wrestlemanias. It was almost Shakespearian in how well and epic the story was. It shows just how great Michaels is on the mic and how great of a presence Undertaker was. The two big matches are going to be part of WWE highlight reels forever. I’m not exaggerating. These matches were the epitome of what professional wrestling was about. The reason I can’t get TOO excited is because it was sorta seasonal. It was like “hey, it’s Mania again… let’s do that feud now”. For that reason, it lacked the real spontaneity of other longer built stories. This feud presented the best match of the era and the best video packages for sure. It’s still one of the best storylines of all time, but I think my number one edges it out.

(ONE) CHRIS JERICHO vs. SHAWN MICHAELS
It’s rare that a wrestling company will pair up the two best wrestlers in a storyline. They seem to try to space this sort of thing out to make more people shine. It makes perfect sense. But sometimes you have to give the fans a special treat. The Jericho/Michaels feud was just that. I don’t think either of them were at their peaks here, but they were both amazing and perfect in the execution of this. They went back and forth and had some great moments in and out of the ring. Two of the best wrestlers and two of the best personas and mic workers of all time showing us how it was done. This was the feud of the year and most likely the feud of the decade so far. This feud needs a DVD.
