Top 4 Jason Segel Roles

(FOUR) FREAKS AND GEEKS
This was the big break. We all saw him in this. We might not have watched while it was on, but once it became a cult hit it was clear that just about everyone on the show was awesome. Jason Segel played a “freak” named Nick Andopolis. He was really into playing the drums and smothering girls. He was a nice guy and I think we all can think of people who remind them of this guy. He was just a likable awkward oaf type. His love for Neal Pert was strong.

(THREE) I LOVE YOU, MAN
This is an underrated movie for sure. Paul Rudd plays a normal white collar guy who is a bit dependant on his wife. He’s clingy and doesn’t have any guy friends after a long relationship of being up her ass. They get engaged and he needs to find a friend to be his best man. Enter Jason Segel. He’s a slacker who lives at home and parties too much. He never grew up and lives a sad loner slacker life. They bond, they have problems, they reunite. It’s just a good movie. It’s like his Freaks and Geeks character never moved out.

(TWO) HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
This has to be one of the most charming shows of all time. No matter what kind of drama is going on the show, it’s like “comfort food” of television. The interactions of the characters, the crazy storytelling, and the relatable passions make this show very easy to watch. They’ll say it’s Neil Patrick Harris, the cameos, or the time slot but it’s a full package here. A big reason is the chemistry Jason has with his TV wife Alyson Hannigan. Marshall and Lily is a great couple, but there’s times where he’s just so awesome that you sometimes think he’s too good for her. She keeps bailing on him and it’s time he bails on her. Whatever. It’s just an awesome show.

(ONE) FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL
If I put it into perspective, I’d not be surprised if this movie was in my top ten of all time. Jason Segal owns this movie. It’s his first big starring role and he nailed it. His girlfriend breaks up with him, he goes into depression, he goes to Hawaii, and she’s there!... with a rockstar played by Russell Brand! It’s such a “romcom” type of plot, but Jason handled it in a very awesome way. It was like a Woody Allen movie with Judd Apatow’s sensibility. It felt right. It didn’t feel like a chick movie.
