(FOUR) FRIENDS
He showed up out of nowhere as Phoebe’s half brother. He was a little crazy, a little weird, and really likeable and funny. He became an important character once Phoebe agreed to birth his children for him and his fiancé, his 26 years older home ec teacher. It was really dopey and really sweet. He complimented Phoebe’s persona perfectly.
(THREE) MY NAME IS EARL
It was a recurring character on a television series, but it was still pretty fun. The show was underappreciated and should have gotten a chance to get closure. Giovanni Ribisi showed up for a few episodes. It was always a welcomed appearance. He was sorta like the “Ernest T. Bass” of the show.
(TWO) AVATAR
I hate Avatar. It’s clearly the most overrated movie of all time. I’m still baffled by the success it had. I can complain and pick apart this movie and the mindless masses that made it a success all day. Instead I’ll bring up the fact that one actor didn’t completely annoy me. It was the bad guy in the movie, Giovanni Ribisi. It’s obviously a HUGE role for him. So I can be cool with that. He got himself in front of like a billion people. That’s always a big career plus.
(ONE) BOILER ROOM
The opposite of Avatar, this movie is one of the most underrated movies I can think of. Giovanni Ribisi’s the lead, a young college drop out trying to live up to his father’s expectations and make it on his own. He hustles with gambling and then gets into some crazy stock brokerage. It’s a REALLY strong performance with a good story and some great costars and support. It’s over ten years old now, but this is Giovanni Ribisi’s best. He needs more leading roles.
