(FOUR) WE ARE ALL MADE OF STARS
Moby taking a jab at a more conventional rock album worked out in various degrees. I think this was the best example of it working. The video was awesome as it is, but the song is fun. As I watched and listened to this song to make up my mind, I shocked myself by the fact that I knew the lyrics. It’s not the best track in the world, but it’s easy to groove to.
(THREE) PORCELAIN
This is a great composition. It’s a really beautiful and depressing song. The melody and tune really tugs at you. It’s down tempo and a bit eerie, but you can’t help but get swept up in the majestic odyssey it takes you on.
(TWO) SOUTH SIDE
I miss Gwen Stefani being a rocker. Hell, I just miss Gwen Stefani. I was always a big fan of this song. I thought it would have made great entrance music for a wrestler. The opening of it and break is just really big and grand. The chorus breaks in and the song just draws you in. Before you can really get into the sound it jumps to the chorus or vice versa. This is one of those songs that you listen to over and over again because you never really feel like you get enough. This may very well be the guy’s biggest hit because I remember it getting TONS of play on the radio and MTV. With good reason…
(ONE) NATURAL BLUES
Aka “oooh lordy, I traveled so far”. The chorus and hook to this song is contagious and pretty much rocks. Moby was a big deal on the DJ circuit before this, but songs like this is why he was able to cross over to the mainstream. It’s ambient, it’s rock, it’s electronic, and it’s just really good. I can get people hating on Moby for whatever reason, but if you hate on this song then you’re a douche.
