Leelee, born “Liliane” was a family name. She got a lot from her folks. Her mom is a producer, screenwriter, and manager for her daughter. Sobieski’s dad is a French painter and used to act. She was cast after being discovered in grade school. She’s also fluent in French!
(THREE) ARTSY
Sobieski has “indie cred” and “critic cred”. She’s one of those younger actresses that is always taken seriously. This is because she can back it up. She had a really weird role in “Eyes Wide Shut”, then in “Wicker Man”, and “Max”. To be honest, I expected to look at her filmography and see more movies like this on it. She just carries herself well, I guess.
(TWO) COMMERCIAL
Leelee Sobieski seems like one of those classy young actresses that only does period pieces and deep indies. Not the case! She’ll do her share of art house films, but she’s done quite a few “commercial” films. These “pop corn flicks” range from “Joy Ride”, “Deep Impact”, and even the recent “Public Enemies”. You got to respect her choice on variety.
(ONE) ACCLAIMED AND MOVING FORWARD
She’s been nominated for a few awards throughout her lineage. On TV she rocked it in the Joan of Arc miniseries and got both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her performances, no matter the project, is always praised upon. She’s proven herself to be a solid hand with tons of upswing. She’s one perfect role away from being cemented into the A-list level. She’s starting to work on a new TV cop drama. These shows have shaky at best luck, but regardless I’m see Leelee Sobieski will land on her feet.
