Top 4 LL Cool J Roles

(FOUR) SWAT
This movie wasn’t that bad. In fact, it’s a fairly decent underrated action movie. Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell, and Michelle Rodriguez star alongside LL Cool J in this 2003 release. It’s probably one of LL’s more successful outings. It’s one of those movies that’ll pop on at like 3 AM on cable on a Wednesday night. You start watching it and before you know it you’re trying not to wake anyone up because you’re loudly reacting to the screen. Decent popcorn flick for sure.

(THREE) MIND HUNTERS
It’s like no one wants to talk about this movie. There is a scene were someone gets chemically frozen and shattered! How awesome is THAT? This movie was a silly “who-dun-it”, but it has a lot more going for it than against it. There IS some cheese, but what sci-fi thriller doesn’t have some cheese? LL works with Jonny Lee Miller, Val Kilmer, Christian Slater, and the likes of Clifton Collins Jr. If you ever get a chance to see this, take it. If you go into with an open mind and low expectations you’ll most likely enjoy it more than you should.

(TWO) ANY GIVEN SUNDAY
This is a Jamie Foxx and Al Pacino movie. Don’t get that wrong. LL has a smaller role in this movie, but does very well with it. He’s a veteran player named “J-Man Washington”. He didn’t have too much going on. He had a good fight with Foxx; he wanted his yards, TDs, and most importantly his money. He was fun in this and I’m surprised it didn’t lead to more solid supporting roles like this.

(ONE) IN THE HOUSE
I’m always going to recall this show. Mainly for one specific scene and line. LL was attempting to get a little wimpy kid to show some confidence. He tells him to shout out “I’m the man!”. The kid’s response was a whiney “I’m the maaaan?!?!” It was hilarious and for some reason always stuck with me. LL plays a former NFL player who runs into money problems and has to rent out rooms of his house. It’s basically a weird version of Who’s the Boss and Fresh Prince. It lasted longer than you’d think. It was LL’s first real showcase of being a big talent. And still… I’m going with it because of the “I’m the maaaan?!?!” line. Classic!
