4 Things I Miss v.31

(FOUR) POUND PUPPIES
I don’t care what anyone says. Stuffed animals are a little girlie, but pound puppies were awesome. They were soft and something that be considered a “stuffed animal”, but don’t think a Pound Puppy won’t pounce on the boogey man is needed. Realistically, these things were cute and cuddly looking. I had one as a small child, but it was a brown mutt looking one. To be fair, it may have been a knock off… or just a puppy corpse.

(THREE) TROLL DOLLS
I don’t think I ever really had any troll dolls. Probably a pencil topper or two, but I wasn’t a collector or anything. Still, I miss the fad. On the Drew Carrey show, Mimi had a “troll doll collection”. It was funny, but also a fair commentary of the times. A lot of people collected these little things. I remember seeing them EVERYWHERE for a while. Whoever was selling these things took no prisoners. They made variations for every sport, occupation, holiday, and event they could. Eventually they just started collecting dust because people grew out of them. I imagine there is a crate of Vancouver Grizzly Troll Dolls buried under “Big Country” Bryant Reeve’s house.

(TWO) ANIMANIACS
Animaniacs was a great cartoon. Yakko, Wakko, and Dot were awesome. I remember rushing home from school to watch this crazy cartoon. The storyline was that these three were locked away in the Warner Brother’s water tower in the 1930’s and would escape in the 1990’s. This lead to a lot of fun word play, slap stick, and just overall greatness. They brought a Marx brothers sensibility to cartoons in the 90’s. At the time things were really cheesy and sucky, but this was almost like a cartoon for smarter and cooler kids. At least, I like to think so being a smarter and cooler kid who watched.

(ONE) 50 CENT METALIC STICKER MACHINES
I think they’re still out there somewhere. Back in the day, these things were EVERYWHERE. It was simple, you put your quarters into a washer machine-like, push in, and pull out. Out comes a rectangle of white cardboard. You flip it open and you have…. A butterfly sticker!?! WHAT THE HELL! I WANTED A DRAGON! THIS IS CRAP! NO FAIR! MOM! MOM! CAN I HAVE TWO MORE QUARTERS! PLEAAAAASE!...... Sorry. Flashbacks.
