4 Reasons I Hate Pro Wrestling V.5

(FOUR) REDUNDANT BOOKING
I’m not one of those fans who think every match needs to have a “clean finish”(a decisive winner with no cheating or antics). It’s a story. These little twists and turns is what makes people get on the edge of their seat and go nuts when a storyline has a big pay off. I just don’t get why we need so many matches that just takes good guys and random bad guys and teams them up for no reason. No story comes from this. It’s just there and it’s just 3 minute nothing filler. Why not make every minute count? It just feels really generic when they throw people together for shits and giggles. Show us, or at least tell us WHY they are teaming up or what’s on the line. I know these bits are deemed okay because you can use the cop out of calling them “character building matches”, but that’s bullshit and anyone with a hint of a brain would know that.

(THREE) FAKE RECORDED CHANTS
For the longest time the “Goldberg” chants were “piped in” through arena speakers. Slowly and surely the real fans started to chant along and before you knew it the sheep were sheparding themselves. This almost happened recently with the “Feed Me More!” Ryback chants, but it’s not as big as I’m sure they’d want. Wrestling has always done this. Most taped Smackdown shows and most taped shows in general will have a fake crowd noise added to make the viewer at home think the show was crazy loud and exciting.

(TWO) STEREOTYPICAL MANAGERS
Why do all professional wrestling managers have to have a sleazy and weasel-like aura to them? I know some of the greatest of all time got by for decades on this general style. The difference is that these guys made it their own. They weren’t just going to a thrift store to buy the most obnoxious suits. They weren’t just looking like a feminine used car salesmen. They made that shit their own. I have a really hard time thinking that someone can’t put a fresh spin on the role. Maybe that is why people say the art of being a manager is dead. The only people who are hung up about the lack of their presence are the same ones can’t shake the generic aspects to begin with.

(ONE) HEELS AFRAID TO BE DISLIKED
The bad guys got merch they need to push. This means that even if a bad guy is being evil they STILL want you to go to the merch stand and buy his stuff. You should STILL add them on twitter, facebook, and tout about their matches. Like whoever… hate whoever. Just buy the shit! Sadly, this mentality has really put a damper on the bad guy that NO BODY likes. The guy that the whole arena wants to see get beat up for real. JBL was a great example of a recent guy to pull this kind of old school heat off. I can’t think of really anyone else in the past five to ten years. Everyone needs their demographic.
