"4 Wrestlers That Should Act"

BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER

(FOUR) THE UNDERTAKER
With Steve Austin and The Rock in Hollywood, it’s apparent that most wrestlers want to act. WWE has started their own films division and have put out movies starring John Cena, Kane, Ken Kennedy, Ted DiBiase, and others. On the horizon is some Triple H movies, a Big Show comedy, something with Randy Orton, and something with Edge. There are rumors that Undertaker will be starring in his own movie about the origins of his gimmicked character. While that might be awesome or horrible, it’s still just a rumor at this point. I guess I’ll also acknowledge his small role in the 1991 Hulk Hogan starred movie “Suburban Commando”. What I’m talking about is him doing some serious acting. He’s big and imposing enough to be a great villain in any movie. The obvious role for his is in vein of horror, but he also has the chops to talk and do drama. He could easily do some Sam Elliot type of stuff. He’s in his mid forties right now, but that’s still plenty of time to get in some quality acting roles… away from WWE and wrestling.

(THREE) RIC FLAIR
Ric Flair should never wrestle again. At 61, he’s just too old and forcing anyone to sell (act out pain due to pain of a given move) for him is insulting to the viewers intelligence and only hurts the illusion of professional wrestling. The man has given the world some of the finest pro wrestling of all time. He is an artist in his craft and has done more for professional wrestling than I think he’s even given credit for. I think he needs to step away from professional wrestling for a few years and then come back later on. He could easily be the Betty White of wrestling. He could come in, get some pops, and maybe be a GM, manager, or something like that. In the meantime, I think Ric Flair has to capitalize on his insane charisma and get into acting. True story, the first screenplay I ever attempted to write had a role for Ric Flair in it. Those who have seen Ric Flair in action over the years knows he could be great in comedy or drama. Will Ferrell basically stole the Flair mojo for this character in “Eastbound and Down”. Why not just get the real deal?

(TWO) SHAWN MICHAELS
For a few years now I’ve had the same conversation with Keith Evans. We both agree that Shawn Michaels should be an actor. Like Ric Flair, he has this charisma that cannot be described. He CAN get over the top if he wants, but the majority of his best mic work in wrestling has been laying the road down for some of the most dramatic scenes in wrestling history. He can tell a story and get a rise like no other and has such a great way of doing it that it’s pretty obvious that it could translate into acting.

(ONE) VINCE MCMAHON
The man himself should be acting. Vincent K. McMahon has the personality that defines confidence and the presence of a golden statue. The facial expressions of Vince have sold more tickets than anything TNA has ever done. McMahon can play the calm and cool business man, the evil business man, the fool, the asshole, and the maniac. I’m not saying he should be starring in any movies, but an appearance would go a long way. I don’t care if the movie stars Dane Cook and Megan Fox, if Vince McMahon had an acting role in the movie I’d want to see it.
