"The 4 Roles of Britney Spears"
9/28/10
BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER

(FOUR) TRAIN WRECK
Sadly in recent years this has been the role she’s most known for. She got married a couple times, including to K-Fed. She shaved her head, went crazy with an umbrella, let her infant drive her car, had a bad reality show, had a failed comeback on one of the MTV award shows, and well… she was a train wreck. That’s really the best way to describe this persona she sometimes takes on. You can give it up to her for being the most interesting of the recent train wrecks. Lohan and Winehouse wrecks are kind of sad because of the drugs and pathetic nonsense. Brit just went bat-shit for a few years. It seems like she got all of that out of her system so that’s a plus.

(THREE) ACTRESS
Early on she made that movie “Crossroads” and it sucked, but since then she’s gotten out there a little more. She had a small part on “How I Met Your Mother” and got good reviews and now she’s got the “Glee” gig. These smaller parts seem to be good for her. I don’t think anyone wants to see her in a starring role just yet, but in a supporting or featured role she can really shine.

(TWO) HOTT
There are a few rough patches in her history, but all in all Britney Spears is hot. She’s got that all American girl, curvaceous, blonde, pretty smile thing going for her. She looks like what every movie, television show, and all of society has told us is hot. She rocks it well.

(ONE) POP STAR
When it all comes down it, no matter her freak outs, outside gigs, and appearance… Britney Spears is a pop star. She’s the definition of “pop star” and no one does it better. I’m not much of a fan of pop music, but it’d be dumb not to acknowledge the impact that Spears has had on music. When she hit the scene in the late 90’s, pop music exploded. If she didn’t have her music career this discussion would not be happening. At the end of the day, her value rests on her first talent.
