"4 Reasons Conan Rules"

(FOUR) COCO LOVES MUSIC
The depths of Conan’s musical love is pretty deep. He plays guitar, collects them, and is pretty open about it. He rocked the axe on his last episode of the Tonight Show during the final segment in which he, Will Ferrell, Beck, ZZ Top, and a few others performed Freebird. More evident is his love for good music as he’s been in videos for the White Stripes and seems to have a fair amount of rock star friends. Even more than your normal talk show host.

(THREE) WRITER OF AWESOME
Dude wrote for The Simpsons and Saturday Night Live. If you ask anyone involved in or aspiring to be in comedy today they’d slap you for asking if that was impressive. Both are two American comedy institutes that have provided more laughs and comedic hot topics than any other programs on TV today. He worked on SNL from 1987 till 1991. He’s responsible for a few sketches, but it’s the “The Girl Watchers” one that did it for me. It’s that one where Tom Hanks and Jon Lovitz stand around ogling girls and saying stuff like “Didn’t even know I was there”. It’s funnier delivered than read, trust me. From 91 to 93 he wrote and produced on The Simpsons. Most people consider this time frame “the best years”. He’s credited for writing four episodes, most notably “Homer Goes to College” and “Marge vs. the Monorail”. In 1993 he landed this talk show gig…

(TWO) LOYALTY
When the writer’s strike went down a few years ago, Conan was off the air for two months. He returned due to the crew not getting paid during that time. He still showed solidarity for the writers as he let a beard grow in. When his version of the Tonight Show was pulled, he bartered and negotiated to get his grew paid and taken care of. He got them reportedly 12 million to split among themselves. Pretty nice guy, if you ask me.

(ONE) ICON
Conan O’Brien is an American icon. His Late Night stint was amazing and captured the hearts of so many young people. His time on the Tonight Show was weird, but good. It’s what happened after being cancelled that was so damn remarkable. When word got out that our beloved “CoCo” was being hosed the masses gathered. There were protests across the country, campaigns in his favor, and just an overall outpouring that was pretty damn amazing. It just goes to show that you don’t screw with CoCo.
