It’s nowhere near Christmas time but I want to put a burden on your heart. There are children out there that don’t eat every day. Some work every day for pennies. Others don’t have soap or shampoo or toothpaste. Most children in the world will never know the happiness of gifts. But you can help!
Operation: Christmas Child is part of Samaritans Purse, is a once a year occurrence in which people across America fill shoe boxes with hygiene products, school supplies, toys and things of the like and then Samaritans purse delivers these boxes to kids in need around the world to make our Christmas season a better one for them.
The official mission of Operation: Christmas Child “is to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
With a name like Samaritans purse - a Christian relief and evangelism organization – it’s no surprise its core values are religious. But does that matter when they are spreading love & happiness to children? 8 million children in 130 countries every year to be exact.
The process is simple. Request the free literature online. Decide whether you will be gifting a boy or girl, choose an age group. Fill a shoe box or plastic shoe box size container with toys, school supplies, hygiene products, books, batteries, etc. then enclose a seven dollar check (which every part goes to delivering costs) and post or drop off your box to the designated area. If you give the seven dollars online you can track your box. It’ll tell you what county, the coordinates of the village and even the child’s life you’ve changed; and if you enclose your address in the box sometimes you lucky enough to receive a letter with the child’s gratefulness and a possibly smiling picture of them.
And viola! You’ve changed the life of someone you’ve never met. Kudos to you.
