It’s a little early to get excited about Summer movies, but I just saw this trailer and had no choice. I’ve never been a huge Cameron Diaz fan. She’s always charming and fun and no matter the movie I’m always a fan of looking at her. I’ll watch her, but her being in a movie isn’t enough for me to want to see it. Then they had to go and throw the R-Rated vulgar comedy fun at me and change it up. Here we have Cameron Diaz as a horrible person and teacher. The antics look hilarious and a good anti-hero, especially female, are hard to come by these days. She wants to hook up with the new substitute teacher, Justin Timberlake. She decides that getting bigger boobs would help so she goes on a mission to get the money for it. The rest of the cast isn’t nothing to shrug at. The awesome Jason Segel shows up as the gym teacher. Then we get the underrated Lucy Punch playing the “heel”. Rounding out the support here is Phyllis Smith, “Phyllis” from The Office, getting out of the office to finally rock on screen. I’m a big fan of the darker comedies and this one seems just about pitch black. Behind the camera is director Jake Kasdan. He directs a lot of things I like including an episode of Californication, Freaks and Geeks, and Undeclared. Then on the movie front he’s responsible for directing and writing The TV Set and Walk Hard. There are plenty more credits to his name and he’s a sleeper in the comedy direction game. The writers here is Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, two guys responsible for writing some of the best episodes of The Office and who have been given the reigns for the new Ghostbusters sequel. That’s a lot of awesome. I’m pretty sure this is one going to be one of the big summer comedies and do good business. It’s an A grade redband trailer to what I’m hoping will be an A grade movie. The ingredients are there and now so is an assload of anticipation.
