Dylan Dog: Dead of Night
04.17.11
BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER

I didn’t know anything at all about this movie until one day a trailer of it popped up during my regularly viewed programming. I always thought Brandon Routh was underrated. The Superman thing almost crippled his career because once you’re the cape, you’re always the cape. I guess it’s a long time curse? Who knows? I’ve seen him pop up in a few other things and he was good. In interviews he comes off way more charismatic and entertaining than his chiseled stern face looks on posters. The trailer seemed interesting. I have a soft spot for horror comedy. I know not every movie is going to be “Shaun of the Dead”, but still. I’ll watch Scary Movie, Dead and Loving It, and others. I had to research it a little. I come to find that it’s based off an Italian comic book. Routh IS Dylan Dog, a detective that specializes in paranormal cases. In the movie he meets a woman and takes her on as a client. Her case causes him to have to face off and deal with vampires, werewolves, zombies, and more. I’m not going to lie. This movie looks really bad. The visuals look okay, but the tone and humor seem really lame and bad. Then again, that might work in its advantage. For all we know this could end up being one of those “so bad it’s good” movies. Why not hope for the best, right?
