Sometimes a movie will just sneak up on you. I had no idea this movie was coming out at all. I didn’t hear anything about the casting, the making of, or anything. As far as I’m concerned this is a very pleasant surprise. The world is a changing and the days of a movie calendar full of R rated comedies is a thing of the past. It’s to the point that in most cases now even if I think a comedy will be lame I’ll still watch it if it’s a theatrically released R rated movie. The atmosphere of entertainment has become soft, so I’ll take what I can get. I like Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, Leslie Man, and the great Olivia Wilde. So that’s about it. That’s all I need. Sometimes you don’t need the world in your hand to be happy. I can break it down to a simple “me like boobies, f words, and good actors”. Or so it would seem. This movie just doesn’t seem all that good. It’s another “Freaky Friday” switch-a-roo movie. Bateman is a white collar family guy and Reynolds is a single douche bag. They’re friends. They pee together. We can look past that because they’re friends. They wish they had each other’s lives, while peeing together… like friends do. BAM! They wake up trapped in each other’s body. Hilarity ensues. It’s a bit of the same as everything. I remember Fred Savage and Judge Reinhold’s “Vice-Versa” from when I was a kid. I remember “Freaky Friday” in all its incarnations. I remember “17 Again” from like two years ago. I’m going to attempt to be open minded, but I’d be lying if I said I’m really all that excited. I like the people in the movie, the writers are responsible for The Hangover and some other good stuff, and the director did Wedding Crashers. There are a lot of really impressive ingredients in this production. Sadly, this trailer isn’t one of them…
