Holy crap. This IS real. I remember reading that Will Ferrell was signed on to do a Spanish speaking soap opera type of feature length movie. The idea itself is funny and entertaining, but I’m not really set on seeing a full length movie. Conan has being doing his “Conando” character for awhile and this almost seems like a cross between that and a parody of anything that’s ever meant anything to Robert Rodriguez. It’s just so weird to really wrap ones head around. I think this is why I’m actually really interested in this movie. It’s off kilter to the point that it could either being so bad it’s good, embarrassingly bad, or just lame. With a lot of movies you can just look at it and get a vibe of expectations. This movie basically gives you a chance to go into it without anything really to compare it to. I’m sure within the plot and story there is an influence or two, but based on this early trailer I am just kind of shocked. I trust Will Ferrell’s sense of humor and skills. That’s enough for me to want to give it a chance, but there’s nothing in the trailer to make me not want to remain optimistic.
