I guess you could say I’m an X-Men apologist. I stuck up for X-Men 3, I stuck up for the Wolverine movie, and I pretty much dig all the X-Men movies and mythos that I know of. I was never really into comics as a kid, but I did have a few X-Men issues and a few Wolverines. I tried to get into it all, but basketball cards ended up being my hobby of choice. When I heard they were making more X-Men movies I was okay with it. An origin story of how the X-Men came together is a fresh idea and I’m pretty sure this movie is going to be cool. The CGI stuff looks like all CGI stuff these days. It’s either crappy, normal CGI, or something over the top like Avatar crapfests. This looks to be normal CGI. What I care about is the story and the casting. They did awesome in the casting department. We get James McAvoy, Kevin Bacon, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Zoe Kravitz, and the always amazing Oliver Platt. On top of those folks are others who people say are on par. I’m good in that department. The story is how Professor X and Magneto come to power. They work in the real history with the Cuban Missile Crisis and Civil Rights. All the ingredients are there, but I’m still not sold on this movie. Then again I don’t think I’ve ever been sold on ANY X-Men movie, but I always end up digging it. I assume this will happen again. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to go see this at the theatre, but I’ll end up catching it sooner than later. I’ll probably enjoy it too.
