A few weeks ago a friend and I watched the original Ghostbusters. It was years since I've sat down and watched it after wearing a few VHS's of it completely out as a kid. We both loved it and picked up on a lot of jokes we missed as a kid. So fast forward about two weeks and we watched the sequel. I've seen a lot of people bash part two in many forums and columns lately as if it's horrible and a bad sequel. As I watched it, I found that opinion not to be my own. I LOVE this movie. They don't waste time with anything. They jump right in and the laughs, drama, cheesy FX, and fun last the entire ride of the movie. There's this comfort to the movie because everyone seems to be having fun and just doing their thing. It's not so much that they "coasted", but just went with the flow, which works because we're dealing with some of the best comedic actors of all time. One thing that I noticed is how great the movie looks. The color selection for clothing, sets, and everything involved popped. The cinematography by Michael Chapman(Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Space Jam, Lost Boys, and many other great movies) is very nice. It's got an independent edge to it that made me keep thinking "this is a lot like a Wes Anderson movie". I mean that in a positive way. If you're a fan of Ghostbusters and haven't watched this in awhile then I'd suggest watching it and taking in a VERY underappreciated movie. I might change my mind later, but as of right now I actually love part two more than the original. Crazy? No. I just think this movie is perfect. 10/10!
