I think the “Lizard King” said it best, “I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames. Alright!” Is the world going to hell in a hand basket? Is there something to the whole Mayan calendar thing? Were the religious folks right the whole time? The world is going crazy. I know there have always been horrible events and bad things. It’s just something we have to accept. Bad things happen. The problem is that A LOT of bad things are happening and the media is treating it like a fat kid in a candy store.
Is it technology’s fault? I’m at an age where I experienced life before and during this amazing technological advancement. In the past 20 years SO much technology has been released to the world, evolved, and perfected. It has become part of our everyday life. The internet is always at our fingers and is as part of our lives as anything outside of the basic needs. I’m starting to realize that the more luxury tech people get the more detached they become. I wonder how many emoticon smiles they’ve seen in my life compared to real ones. I wonder how many times someone has seen a “lol” and “rotflmao” compared to actually hearing laughter. I know right now there is probably a less extreme balance, but as time goes forward it seems like the “realness” is going to go away. With all of the free time, we’re told to be anti-bullying. This is stupid and will only make people weak. I don’t want anyone to get beat up or anything and it should be kept an eye on. My problem is that a simple taunt or picking on is not a suspendable offense. When you’re in school, you’re a jerk to your friends and vice versa. You pick on the girl you like. Why are we being such pussies? Why are be “anti-bully”? Why not “anti-mean”? or “anti-hate”? I want your kids safe, happy, and proud… but what about backbone. I’m not religious at all these days, but how could “Jesus turn the other cheek” in today’s world? Before the first cheek could be hit the attacker would be suspended, put on ADD meds, sent to the school counselor, and if they’re REALLY bad… trust fund kids and slackers will stand around holding signs complaining.
Over the past few months the American atmosphere has been crazy. We’ve seen shootings in movie theatres and places of worship. We’ve seen bigots rally together in support of a fast-fucking-food chicken chain. The political landscape is a joke. The guy who is trying to make all of the pieces fit keeps getting lies put out there about him. President Obama has done more good than bad. He is misquoted and his words are being taken out of context so obvious racists and narrow minded republicans can lash out. The whole “he don’t think I EARNED muh business!” bullshit has to stop. His point that for anything to strive it needs a community and other services to make it happen. He’s just kind of screwed because anything progressive that he wants to do gets destroyed by the hate-mongering conservatives. The liberals aren’t doing shit by standing outside of places and holding up signs. How is that going to CHANGE anything? No one is really doing anything. It’s just a whole lot of empty spectacle. It’s all stupid and it’s all on Channel Whatever News at 9!
