WWE Summerslam 2012 Preview
08.14.12
BY MIKEY MIGO

Summerslam is always one of the biggest shows of the year. Most people consider it the second biggest Pay Per View of the year behind Wrestlemania. I’ve always felt Survivor Series was the second most important because it was the half way mark to Wrestlemania. I grew up the Michaels/Hart matches, the one night tournament and all of that awesome stuff so it’s easy to understand where I’m coming from. That said, I still love me some Summerslam. To me it always represented the last big wrestling show of the summer before I’d have to go back to school. This year the returning kids don’t get all that much to talk about.

The undercard isn’t horrible. We actually get a few fun title matches. Truth and Kofi defending against Young and O’Neil could be good, but I’m just happy the Tag Titles are on PPV. I’ll go with the title change, Young and O’Neil get the straps to make AW look worse.

Daniel Bryan vs. Kane sounds like it won’t be any fun. I’ve seen them wrestle already and it wasn’t any fun. I don’t understand how anyone thought this would be fun. They’re both talented, but they just don’t mesh. I’d much rather see Daniel Bryan against anyone else right now and Kane needs a good storyline to make me want to watch him again. Because the WWE seems to want to make Daniel Bryan look like a lunatic, they’ll probably have him lose… again. Kane wins. Ugh.

I think I’m excited to see Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler more than any other match on the card. Piper getting involved in the Jericho/Dolph stuff does nothing for me. I just hope they actually give it at least 10 minutes so it can steal the show. Too bad The Miz is stuck wrestling Rey Mysterio. Miz is going to win that one by hook or crook. For sure he’ll retain. Maybe they can do a four-way ladder match for the IC Title at the next PPV or even on one of the everlasting 3 hour RAWs. I pick Dolph for the win

I don’t care about the two big matches at all. Triple H taking on Brock Lesnar has no appeal to me. Both guys should be fighting someone else, if at all. This is going to eat up a big chunk of the show too. It’s NoDQ so expect antics! Maybe Triple H will go for the sledge hammer and Brock will grab it, break it over his knee or something, and then annillate Triple H. It’s predicable and lame. The Stephanie/Heyman/”You said the words ‘your children’ casually in a promo so NOW IT’S PERSONAL!” bullshit does nothing for this match. I can’t believe that a match that has both Shawn Michaels and Paul Heyman putting it over on the mic isn’t making me the least bit interested. Brock wins.

The other boring main event is Punk/Show/Cena. I’ve not been excited about a Big Show match since his fun stint working with Cody. Cena’s character is crap and his wrestling can’t carry him alone. Punk is solid for sure, but that’s not going to carry this. I don’t care who wins and I don’t care if I see this. Sadly, I’ll probably still watch it and I’m saying Punk retains.

I think my main problem is that it just doesn’t seem all that worth it. With RAW being three hours a week, the idea paying upwards of $60 for another three hours sounds REALLY silly. WWE is oversaturating themselves. I’ve been a positive fan and have enjoyed the show for what it is for so long. I watch with an open mind, but some things just aren’t worth trying to make sense of, and most certainly not $60.

The shitty part is that I’ll still watch it…
