WWE Survivor Series 2013 Review
11.26.13
BY MICHAEL GOODPASTER

I went into this show with the lowest expectations I’ve had for a major wrestling pay per view possibly ever. I typically at least expect it to suck or have something notable happen. For this one, I don’t have a good vibe or a negative vibe. It’s just going to happen. There is nothing engaging about the WWE product. It’s overwhelmingly boring. I love some of the talent and the match-ups are pretty interesting at times, but the abundance of bullshit makes it too much of a hassle to watch. For the first time in my thirty or so year WWE watching experience, it’s more of an inconveince to watch. There has been points where I didn’t watch much and times when I was fully engaged. Right now I dread having to not just watch the WWE but also to add any more of its content, news, gossip, or “universe” into my brain. There is just no room up there for any more useless uninspired entertainment.

This is supposed to be one of the biggest shows of the year. There is so much enriched history tied into this show. You’d think the build and the matches would be worthy of such an honor. On paper, this show sucks. On screen, I’m optimistic. I don’t WANT to be annoyed and bored for 3 hours.

But I was.

This pay per view sorta sucked. The opening elimination match and the Wyatts vs. Punk/Bryan were the only things really notable. Mark Henry and Ryback had a half-decent match for two big men and there was some okay spots sprinkled through out the card. Cena beating Alberto was lackluster and lame. Orton, as much as I like him, had a bad match with Big Show. The crowd chanting “boring” during the final match of one of your biggest shows of the year SHOULD tell you something. It’s force fed nonsense. Nothing is exciting. Where was Dolph Ziggler on this card? Why didn’t they have more survivor series styled matches? This show was just a big crapfest. People who paid their hard earned money on this show were flat out ripped off. One or two really good matches is not worth $60-$70. I don’t care how big of a fan you could be of those involved, it’s robbery.

It’s not just a money robbery, but a time robbery. This is another ramble about how tired I am of the WWE and how I’m having trouble maintaining my fandom of the product. Wrestling is not entertaining, fun, or all that engaging. It’s just there with the same soup every night just reheated.

My interest is officially at an all-time low.
