I enjoy television binging. This past week I noticed that the second season of Eastbound & Down was complete so I took in a few episodes a night before crashing. Good times. If you’re not in the loop on the great HBO half hour comedy that is Eastbound & Down then you’re missing out. Last year the show quietly debuted its first season of six episodes. The show stars Danny McBride as “Kenny Powers”, a burnt out major league baseball player who has burnt too many bridges. So with nowhere to go, he goes back to his home town to teach gym at his old middle school. It’s hilarious stuff. McBride is at his best and the slew of supporting stars and cameo appearances flat out rock. In between the first season and this second season the myth and legend of the show grew. A lot of people got into it late and the demand for more was high. So they carried on. In season two we see Kenny Powers head out to Mexico. Hilarity ensues in an obscene amount. The seven part season two was even better than the first if you ask this viewer. I was hesitant at first, but it quickly proved to be one of the funniest shows on TV right now. Hell, maybe even the funniest. In the season we see Kenny party in Mexico, play baseball, start some shit, become an “ass man”, meet up with his awesome dad, and so much more. I don’t want to get in to too much detail because I fear I’ll spoil it. Just watch it. If you don’t have access to HBO then go to your rich friend’s house and watch it there. If anything wait for it to hit DVD and watch it over and over again. If you enjoy laughing and aren’t afraid of adult content then you can’t go wrong with this show. Kenny Powers is the man.
