"America...F*ck Yeah!"

BY MIKEY MIGO

For all I know there might be an "America Fest" already. If that's the case, just pretend the the title of this fantasy festival is "The All American Rock Out Festival". Either way, we're going to look at some of the great living American bands and the ones who would be great for this fantasy one day super show.

Before I get into listing the bands I want to make sure you all know that the bands and performers I picked are who I think would best represent America. There's some left wing types, some right wing types, and just some overall talented people who I feel would be a good melting pot of beliefs, styles, and ideas. After all, isn't that what our independence is all about?

TED NUGENT
"The Motor city Madman" would be the ideal choice to crack open this festival. Of course it would kick off with a soaring guitar rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. If you believe in the same causes or ideas he does or not, you can't deny the awesomeness of his hits like "Stranglehold" or "Cat Scratch Fever".

FOO FIGHTERS
The Foo Fighters is one of those bands that get their respect and praise, but I still find them to be underappreciated and underrated. They continue to put out great album after great album and never get into any drama with any other bands and seem to never ever be in the tabloids. They just make good music and to me they'd be a great representative of what American rock has to offer.

KID ROCK
I think I really miss Kid Rock because I've been finding myself mentioning him more and more lately when talking about music. If his patriotism was ever in question just take a listen to "American Bad Ass" and you'll know exactly why he's here on this list. From rock, to hip hop, and to country; Kid Rock covers most of what American music has to offer. Cue up "Bullgod" and you'll find me in the front row singing a long.

THE WHITE STRIPES
Wow, the third Detroit representative in the concert. That wasn't planned, but makes me wonder if Detroit could be the most "American" city out there. Like the Foo Fighters, The White Stripes are legends in the making. Their albums and singles are great and would simply just be a great band for America to show off in this fantasy festival.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
You can all give me shit for this one, but I want to mix it up a little. Justin Timberlake owns the pop world right now. His music isn't the typical annoying pop music that we all shun as being teenybopper bullshit. He's got chops, talent, and one would assume he'd be perfect for a show like this.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
Many people are quick to say RAGE is "un-American", but I think it's the exact opposite. They'd not be so forceful about change in their lyrics and aggression if they didn't love and care about this country. They are bad ass and very passionate about their beliefs. If you don't respect that then you're clearly not looking at them objectively.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEIN
He's the freakin' "Boss". What did you expect? Of course the man who put out "Born in the USA" is going to be on this show. He's got that "down home"- "everyday man" thing going for him that pretty much gives us a perfect performer for this concert.

AEROSMITH
They've been declared "America's Greatest Band" many times and with good reason. They ARE America's Greatest Band. Even at their current age, they look healthy and can perform just as well as they did in the past. They've had more awesome singles than I can even attempt to list in this column, but you already know that. I've always wanted to see Aerosmith in concert, so there's no better choice for what American band will headline "America Fest".

Sure there are some people I left out that could easily be on this show. I'm not a country fan so they get the shaft here. I know there's A LOT of country artists who have tons of Pro-American songs. It's just not my cup of tea so they didn't make the cut. Then there's others that just didn't make my final 8 cut.

Who would YOU include? Not from the US, which homegrown artists would you have at your countries Independence festival?
