[MUSIC] THE SAVAGE ANIMAL
"It's Party Time!"
07.18.07
BY MIKEY MIGO

I am going to tap my music collection and make the best mix CD possible to celebrate. I have a lot of music and I'm sure I'll miss a few songs you'd put on your mix or I might even include a few songs that you'd not like. That's the beauty of a mix, it's personalized. You can tap your hyper collection, your traditional party music, and just the music you want a group to enjoy.

I wanted to keep this all on ONE CD and with some moving around, planning, and effort I managed to fit twenty songs on the CD. I'm not saying these are the "Top 20 Party Songs", but "20 Party Songs That I Wanted On This CD"…

Song: Jump
Band: Van Halen
This is the best Van Halen song made, hands down. Also, did you know this is the happiest suicide song ever made?

Song: Feel Good Hit of the Summer
Band: Queens of the Stone Age
Depending on what kind of party you're having, this song pretty much lists the ingredients of self destruction. But at a small level, isn't that was partying is all about?

Song: A.D.I.D.A.S.
Band: Korn
If your party isn't a sausage fest, this is the song to play. It's brash and blunt, but if you're not enjoying this song in a party atmosphere then you have no soul.

Song: Bohemian Rhapsody
Band: Queen
Thanks to Wayne's World, I think it's safe to say that we all know what to do when this song comes on.

Song: Slacker
Band: Tech N9ne
For those who's party never ends, this is your song. I have friends who had never heard of Tech N9ne and this song seals them as fans.

Song: Song 2
Band: Blur
It's the "Woo Hoo" song. How can you not go crazy?

Song: 1999
Band: Prince
Granted, it's 2007 but back in the day 1999 seemed like a far time away. It represented a end of one Millennium and the birth of a new one. I guess Prince knew we should party as much as we could before the 2000 elections.

Song: Mama Said Knock You Out
Band: LL Cool J
We gotta use the MTV Unplugged version. This song is great, but when done live I get chills from LL's intensity.

Song: Lets Dance
Band: David Bowie
I put Mr. Bowie on all my Mix CDs when given the chance. Lets Dance is the perfect song to fit in with this one.

Song: Fight For Your Right
Band: Beastie Boys
A mix CD about Partying, you say? It would be immoral to leave this track off the CD. If you're parties aren't like the video to this song, then you're not doing it right.

Song: 99 Problems
Band: Jay Z
For this one, I use the Danger Mouse "Grey Album" version. 99 Problems mixed with Helter Skelter is a perfect blend.

Song: God Given
Band: Nine Inch Nails
"Closer" would be the obvious pick. All of my friends get NIN shoved down their throats by me whether they like it or not. To me, "God Given" is the most danceable and addicting track on "Year Zero".

Song: Thriller
Band: Michael Jackson
I grew up watching Revenge of the Nerds over and over again. I picture the Tri Lambs and Moos dancing to this song more than I even imagine the video. A room full of people doing the Thriller dance is always a party in my book.

Song: Walk This Way
Band: Aerosmith and RUN DMC
When searching for the tracks for the mix, I came across this one. I've not really listened to it in years and I think I hate myself for that.

Song: Bombs Over Bagdad
Band: Outkast
If your party isn't worn out from dancing already, this song might kill them. I wish Outkast would come out with a new album already. This song and really their entire discography is so good, but I think they still don't get the respect they deserve.

Song: Burning Down The House
Band: Talking Heads
Again, more from the Revenge of the Nerds soundtrack. The first act of the movie is capped off by a Alpha jock party where they literally burn down the house. Even above that, it's Talking Heads!

Song: The Beautiful People
Band: Marilyn Manson
Back in my high school days this song was sinister and powerful. Thanks for arenas across the world and over saturation, it's become a bit of a catching anthem. Instead of wanting to kill someone with a spork, you wanna dance to it now.

Song: Two Hookers and an Eightball
Band: Mindless Self Indulgence
Who ever is left standing after the Outkast track a few songs ago will not survive this one. Granted, you might not have real hookers and eight balls at YOUR parties, you should have this song on your CD.

Song: Gin and Juice
Band: Snoop Dogg
Since everyone is worn out and sweaty now, lets put on a smooth track. Not much is smoother than Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice". The only way you don't know AT LEAST the chorus is if you're deaf. If that's the case, then that sucks and why are you reading about music?

Song: Immigrant Song
Band: Led Zepplin
Big Finish. Led Zepplin should be present at ever party. There's plenty to choose from, but I just so happen to like this one more than the others.

I know, I know. Where's the Guns and Roses? Devo? Metallica? Bon Jovi? Where's all MY(your) favorite bands? Well they're on YOUR mix CD.
