[BLOG]WORST CASE SCENARIO
"WWE Diva Brand!"

“Worst Case Scenario” is a new take on the concept of “fantasy booking”. For years professional wrestling fans would spend endless hours of thinking up the coolest things that could happen. Why waste the energy? This only leads to high expectations. “Worst Case Scenario” flips that. Instead of looking through rose colored glasses, let’s take a bi-weekly look at the worst possible scenarios in professional wrestling. I’m not going to be malicious or anything too mean, but I will not refrain from letting my brain come up with the worst possible shit I can. Sadly, it seems the writers and producers of mainstream TV wrestling and the mainstream iPPV level indies are doing the same thing but charging us for it. And now…

“WWE Diva Brand!”

The WWE is always looking to expand their fan base into new areas. They attempt new projects every so often in an attempt to re-enter the relevant pop culture scene. They’ve tried movies, specials, appearances, commercials, and reality shows. They recently put on their Divas show on E! and it seems to be a fairly popular commodity for them. You know how the WWE works though. Once someone catches on a little, they’ll shove it down our throats until everything that was special and fun about something is gone.

Why should we expect anything different?

The WWE had the RAW brand, the Smackdown brand, and even an ECW brand for a while. The ECW brand would eventually go away, but the RAW and Smackdown sides lasted for a good amount of time. It was run as separate entities for years until they just gave up on it. Now wrestlers and personalities appear on both shows and it’s nothing too out of the ordinary. Storylines, championships, and everything just carries on. There is no real difference other than the general manager and the fact that WWE seems to push the lower priority stuff to Smackdown. We all just accept this. No biggie, right?

So let’s start a new brand! That brand is the Diva Brand! No more women matches on RAW or Smackdown! All female action will be held on WWE DIVA! It’ll be on E! and the storylines advance through “unscripted” reality show storylines and they have like 2 or 3 matches a week. It can be done simple and kept to a solid hour of programming a week.

For a while this would probably work fine. Then we’d start to notice that there’s no matches in the PPV or on RAW that you have to fast forward through. This is also such a horrible idea that you can almost guarantee that it would take off. People are dumb and they like dumb things.

So with the popularity of the show, the WWE would want to milk it. They’d start replacing the normal PPVs with WWE Diva only shows. WWE DIVA would become the new flagship show. This couldn’t go on un-tainted for too long. It’s easy to imagine the moment where a John Cena or someone big gets “traded” to WWE DIVAS. So then it becomes an inter-gender DIVA’S championship.

Just wait until someone wins the Royal Rumble and demands a shot at the DIVA’S title. Wrestlemania 31: John Cena vs. Nikki Bella for the WWE DIVAS Championship.

It sells itself!
