MARCH OF THE MANIAKZ

The concept of “March of The Maniakz” is just about completely ripped off from PS-One and before wrestling video games. The Royal Rumbles and Battle Royal modes would only be able to handle four men in the ring at once. Another would only come out after one of those four is eliminated. In the games this was because it couldn’t handle that much, in MEW it was because when it was created in 2001 we weren’t sure the ring could handle a full Battle Royal.
Any who, the rules are simple.:
* FOUR RAAANDOM MEN START OUT
* ELIMINATIONS OCCUR BY PIN OR BY BEING THROWN OVER THE TOP ROPE
* ONLY FOUR MANIAKZ IN THE RING AT A TIME
* RINSE AND REPEAT UNTIL ALL MANIAKZ HAVE ENTERED
* WINNER RECIEVES A SHOT AT THE MEW WORLD ENTERPRISE TITLE
With the rules and history of the match covered, let’s get into the action. I like watching these kind of matches because it features a majority of the roster at that time. There seems to be A LOT of people in this match. The first four made for some interesting situations. First are Willie Richardson, Kaleb Pierce, Tristin Hayze, and Hiztory as his alter ego “El Chubacabre”. The main thing to remember is the 4-Way Ladder Match for the North American Title (Episode 2/Match 1) was RIGHT BEFORE THIS. Kaleb Pierce didn’t even get a chance to walk in to the locker room before his music started back up and he was required to return to the ring. Everyone seems to focus on beating down Kaleb Pierce. For months before this, he was one of the biggest heels/bad guys MEW had. As the “Virgin Pornstar”, Pierce made a lot of enemies. This seemed like their chance to get their revenge. At start Willie just beats up everyone, especially Hiztory. Meanwhile, Hayze and Pierce brawl at ringside. The first to go is Hiztory and this brings out Kenny Courageous. Kenny takes a break on the outside as Pierce drinks water and recuperates. Willie and Kenny then beat up Hayze and hit a VICIOUS TOP ROPE PILEDRIVER! But somehow Hayze get Willie out with a spinning DDT. This brings in Chayne Wylde who lasts vey shortly… and then Courageous is out. BOTH by Pierce. This brings out Eddie Jacobs. The crowd loves him, but once Stryc 9 comes out he and Pierce team up on Jacobs. Stryc 9, still upset from losing to “Da Chronohollics” in 2002(Ep 5/Match 3) goes right at him. Jacobs is out REALLY quick. This brings out the debut of THE SPANISH BLITZKRIEG! The crowd was amazed, in love, and very entertained with his debut. Hayze is then eliminated by Stryc 9 with a double armed piledriver. Enter Johnny Mac. He comes as Stryc 9 is eliminated. Ebner then comes out and goes right after Pierce, who is closer to being comatose at this point. But he STILL manages to eliminate Ebner after a Rocker Dropper variation. Then the debut of Slappy! The Clown. Slappy, like most people in this, came in and went right after Kaleb Pierce. Mac eliminated Blitzkrieg with the ABDOMINAL STRETCH. Enter Justin Vega as Pierce eliminated Johnny Mac. This brings out Trent Lexington, who goes after Pierce.
We’re at the half way mark and it’s Trent Lexington, Slappy!, Justin Vega, and STILL Kaleb Pierce. Slappy! eliminates Vega and Big Don makes his way to the ring. He quickly eliminates Slappy as Pierce and Lexington brawl from the outside and back into the ring. Lexington ruins Slappy’s fun and gets him out. This brings the DEBUT OF ALTO! He rocks from the start and of course… goes after Pierce. Alto eliminates Lexington and we get the return of MACHINE. He goes right after Pierce… like everyone else… and absolutely brutalizes Kaleb. He puts his mouth on the corner and CURB STOMPS him as Big Don watches inside and Alto hides outside. Pierce is limp. Machine eventually sees Alto hiding and takes him in and introduces him to pain with a “666 Bomb” and a swift elimination. This brings us to GQ of “Team Dammit”. GQ goes for Machine, but he and Big Don team up against him. Machine turns on Big Don and he’s eliminated. Enter Jeff Canaday, who goes for Pierce, but is soon taken into the ring by Machine and GW. GQ hits a picture perfect elbow drop and Jeff “Twist” Canaday is eliminated. All of this disturbing stuff is going on and out comes Whipme Spears! Machine is a little scared, but they get him/her out pretty easily. And the last person to enter the 2003 March of the Maniakz is “C.M. CHUNK” CARL MORRIS. Carl is beaten down by GQ as Machine hunts Pierce like he’s the Predator and Pierce is Carl Weathers. These final four go at it for awhile, probably too long. As GQ tries to get Carl over the top, Machine sneaks up and takes them both out. This leaves Machine and Kaleb Pierce. At this point, Kaleb Pierce had been through a sick FOUR WAY LADDER MATCH and then about 45 minutes of this intense March of the Maniakz. Machine won the match, but came off as a monster dick which set the tone for his heel turn to come. The real star of this is obviously Pierce. Participating in a 4-Way Ladder Match is normally enough for any wrestler, but then to face off with the majority of the roster was amazing. Pierce laid limp for awhile after this and it was one of the scariest things ever. He took the best TWENTY FIVE MANIAKZ had to offer. Even If people were being extra cruel to him, in the end Kaleb Pierce walked out of the Lincoln Center that night as one of the toughest mofos of all time. If we had awards of even NBA All-Star style MVP’s for big shows like this one, Pierce would have gotten it and I’m pretty sure no one could, would, or should ever argue that.
